Hi I have a six year old boy that is taken Imipram HCL 25mg. The Imipram HCL didn t work so his dose had to go to 50mg of the Imipram. My question is what side of effect do this med cause and why do you have to take it so long for you see that it works.

Since 'insulin resistance' plays an important role in the pathophysiology of PCOS, which results in hampering the process of proper ovulation, Metformin is administered in such cases. It works by improving the sensitivity of peripheral tissues to insulin, which results in a reduction of circulating insulin levels and better chances of proper ovulation to take place. This would improve the chances of conceiving. Commonly encountered side effects of metformin include: lactic acidosis, vomiting, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, nausea and flatulence.
