Can Macrobid Be Taken For A UTI While On Escitalopram For Depression And Anxiety?

I have been expietencing lower abdominal pain on my right side I have been to the hospital twice one doctor who actually made me stay and tested me said I m anemic and my urine was negative for urinary tract infection that was Friday at midnight went i n the next day at 5pm and told by a different doctor who didn t wait for my urine results tells me I have a urinary tract infection and prescribed me macrobid. So it comes down to these questions is it possible to have a negative urine and then have the next day be tested positive for infection? Is macrobid suitable if I am on ability and Escitolapram for depression and anxiety ? Is macrobid suitable for people with anemia?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

It seems you have urethral syndrome i.e. internal” dysuria (usually without urinary urgency or frequency), and an absence of Escherichia Coli and other uropathogens at counts of ≥100/mL in urine.

Usually a course of antibiotic is prescribed in acute urethral syndrome. Macrobid (nitrofurantoin) is not known to have any drug interaction with Escitolapram.
