Can Losartan Potassium And Hydrochlorothiazide Cause Overactive Bladder?

I was prescribed Losartan Potassium and hydrochlorothiazide tablets in Julyy, 2016. I went to the Urgent Care, when they prescribed this to me. I came in with BP 200/95, running a temperature, Pain in lower back, and severe sticking pain in my right groin. the Doctor s Assistant, changed regular Cozaar to this product. She also said I had LYME DISEASE. gAVE me 3 weeks of antiobiotic After 3 visits, I learned I did NOT HAVE LYME DISEASE. I was given the Losartan (mentoned above) and found I am voiding too often. I have an OVERACTIVE BLADDER. I believe, I should have to discontinue the use of the Losartem hydrochlorothuazide. I am in Tucson, Az. right now. I suppose I have to go to a general practitioner to get this resolved. Mildred Kreiswirt

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the hydrochlorothiazide is diuretic giving repeated urge to urinate, it is not overactive bladder, as the effect is drug induced.

* Immediately stop further doses of the hydrochlorothiazide, continue Losartan and discuss with your doctor for the replacement molecule.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
