Can Lexapro 10 Mg Causes Drowsiness?

Since adding Lexapro 10 mg to my daily meds about a month ago, I am noticeably sleepy. Sleep 8 hours nicely at night, ready for nap by 11 am which will last 2 1/2 hours and am sometimes prompted to take another nap in the afternoon. I wonder if this is caused by adding Lexapro. Other meds are Pradaxa, Toprol, Digoxin, Prevacid, Januvia, Amaryl, Lipator, Klonopin, D3, B12, Magnesium. It the Lexapro the reason for the sleepiness; could it be the reason for the sleepiness? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms can be related to the side effects of Lexapro. The drowsiness and dizziness caused by Lexapro occur because these medications have a tendency to lower blood pressure.

Usually, these side effects go away on its own. If they continue, I suggest consulting your doctor for an alternative medication.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
