Can Laxopeg Be Given To A Child On A Regular Basis?

My son is 5 years old.After barium exam, Acquired Megacolon found.My Pediatrician prescribe Laxopeg granules 24 grams daily two times a day.His weight is 18 Kilogram.and Dr. also said that, this Laxopeg may be uses for 2 years.So my question is that is it safe for taking long time uses of Laxopeg or there is any alternative?If my son taking it for long time,may be it will habituated of this medicine? Long term use of laxatives is not recommended. If it is absolutely indicated, you can try alternatives like lactulose.
