Can Ipratropium / Albuterol, Combivent Respimat And Qvar Be Used Together?

Hello, my mother in law recently moved in with us and I am in charge of setting up her daily perscriptions. I have come across several inhalers which she rarely uses but says she has to have. I am wondering if these all are necessary or even safe all together. Ipratropium / Albuterol (Nebulizer) 0.5 - 2.5 (3) mg / ml solution 1 unit 4 times a day Qvar 40mcg /atc inhaler 2 puffs a day ProAir HFA 108 2 puffs daily as needed Combivent Respimat 20 / 100 mcg / atc Aerosol 1 puff 4 times a day So far I haven t actually seen any reason for all of these but more importantly are they safe together or ? I am not able to talk to her doctor as she only allows my brother in law to go with her. He sees no problem so I am just checking.

Hi,

* Combivent Respimat is Ipratropium and Albuterol together in one inhaler
* Qvar inhaler is a steroid inhaler
* Proair is only Albuterol

Thus she should not take Combivent Respimat and Ipratropium / Albuterol inhaler at the same time as they are both the same drugs. Similarly Albuterol [Proair] is already taken in as combination inhaler so no need to take it separately. Please re-confirm if she is taking these all together or one instead of another and if so to please bring it to her doctor's notice.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
