Can Indomethacin Be Safely Taken Daily For Gout?

G day. Occaisionaly I have had gout. be it from wine or potatoes ,UI only use it when I get severe pain in jponts of feet where the gout crystals are.I am 78 YO male. I have osteoarthritis and a super bad back from stenosis. I also have had a back operation called a leminectomy [ 10 years ago] My treating Docs say they cannot do any epidurals or get into spine because of scar tissue and arthitis etc.Ibuprofen makes me break out in lumps and itches too much .. The other day I took this gout mediceine Indomethicin and noticed that I felt pretty good all over... Now, I havent read the side effects yet but can I take this on a 24 hor ongoing basis ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
I gone through your queries.

For acute attack of gout, Indeomethacin is choice of drug. But it is only for symptomatic relief.

For chronic gout you have to start Allopurinol and / or Probenecid according to your physicians advice.

Thanks.
