Can I Take Celexa And Amitriptyline Together?

i take Celexa in the mornings to help with hot flashes/menophase. I recently had back surgery, but still experience achey legs - my surgeon prescribed AMITRIPTYLINE to help with this. My question is: is it ok to take celexa in the morning and the other in the evening (same day). I wondered since both are anti-depressants .

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

Using citalopram (celexa) together with amitriptyline can increase the risk of a rare but serious condition called the serotonin syndrome, which may include symptoms such as confusion, hallucination, seizure, extreme changes in blood pressure, increased heart rate, fever, excessive sweating, shivering or shaking, blurred vision, muscle spasm or stiffness, tremor, incoordination, stomach cramp, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Still you can take both drug togather but just inform your doctor about that. If you have any side effects then consult your doctor urgently.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer.
Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
