Can I Take Oraldene Medication For Itching In The Lower Jaw And Gums?

Hi, I have the gums of the front teeth of the lower jaw itch and using the Oraldene for 4 days. Three days ago I lost the taste. The itching became less intensive. Could you please tell me if I do the right thing using the Oraldene? And shall I continue if I have a side effect? And how long? Thank you in advance.

Hello,

Oraldene is hexetidine mouth wash, it is used to treat gingivitis, sore gums, oral thrush, mouth ulcers, etc. Since you are sensitive to it, you are advised to dilute it with water before use and inform your treating doctor about the loss of taste as you may need to stop using Oralde for a few days.

Loss of taste can be due to gingivitis, get clinically examined by an ENT or dentist to rule out any growth or underlying disease (like sinus viral infection, post viral olfactory dysfunction, etc.) problems, and get treated.

Poor oral hygiene also contributes to the loss of taste. Maintain good oral hygiene. Get dental problems treated if any. Do not smoke, do not take alcohol or recreational drugs. Taking antihistamine is helpful. Analgesics will help to reduce soreness and inflammation. Take adequate rest and maintain hydration.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
