Hi, hyperparathyroidism needs to be evaluated by an ultrasound of neck and a contrast enhanced CT scan if required. Most of the times, one of the parathyroid is enlarged and is removed by surgery. Surgery can be done by an external incision and a small incision is usually required. A transaxillary endoscopic approach can also be used but a trained surgeon in endoscopic approach is required for that. Sometimes, the thymic axis is attached to the parathyroid and needs to be excised with it. Regards
