Can I Get Gastric Cancer Because Of Genetic Make-up?
My mother passed away last year from gastric cancer . She was 83. Her father also died from gastric cancer aged 60. Should I be checked for this type of cancer and how often. I was told by a doctor that because of their ages it most likely was not a hereditary type gastric cancer but old age. Is this correct and should I be worried. Geraldine.

Considering the age it won’t be a hereditary type. However you are at a high risk of gastric cancer. It is better to go for an annual endoscopy to detect early changes.
