Can Hydrocortisone Cream Be Used For Redness And Dryness On The Legs?
I have a red area on the back of my legs around where the elastic of my socks was all day. There are little red pin sized dots mixed in the area. Also a little higher on the same leg, there are thin little lines kind of like spider veins (very faint in color). The skin on my legs is very dry and I seem to remember having something similar at other times (when I wear socks with elastic). Should I just watch it or use skin cream or hydrocortisone ointment?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply an emollient cream like Enmoist cream twice daily.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Harshit Bhachech
