Can Hydrocodone And Acetaminophen Be Given To A Child?

My Nephew had a serious injury to his foot , He is five years old .He is crying because that injury at night wakes him up from the Pain . Is it safe to give him a little hydrocodone 2.5 + 100 Acetaminophen he just got out of the hospital , He dropped a grinder on his bare foot cut off 1 toe 2nd toe cut in Half and they wetre able to attach it . The arch of the foot has a almost to the bone or cartilage cut diagonal .

It's not safe to give Hydrocodone for a young child. As per the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) children younger than 12 years should not be given opioids like codeine or hydrocodone as it may increase the risk for breathing problems and death.

Your nephew may be given anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen or Mefenamic acid under the supervision of his treating doctor.
