Hi,

As you probably know, Eliquis is a blood thinner. It has not been shown to cause confusion, and I cannot see any way it might be related to your mother in law's confusion. I would be concerned about this symptom, and would recommend your mother in law see her doctor as soon as possible. Though I would expect her to have a headache and other symptoms, given that she is on a blood thinner and would be at higher risk for a bleed around her brain, she may need a CT scan of her head, as well as blood work to look for infection or electrolyte abnormalities, which can also cause confusion.

Another thing to consider is sometimes patients are slowly developing dementia, and then something happens, like with your mother in law, that leads her to be in the hospital, and dementia gets worse and becomes noticeable. I don't know your mother in law, so only her doctor could help make that determination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
