Can Eldervit Injection Cause Elevated Vitamin B12 Levels?

Hi I have been taking injection eldervit off and on after suffering from numbness in my feet. I din t get the B12 levels checked. Last injection I took last night and today as I got the blood tested for B12 the levels are above 2000 pg\ml. Can injection eldervit cause a spike in the serum levels of B12 to that extent within 24 hours

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Eldervit injection contains Vitamin C, Vitamin B12, Folic acid and Niacin vitamins.
Since they are water soluble vitamins, they will get absorbed very fast from injection site and appear in blood.
Hence you have got such high Vitamin B12 levels in blood.
You don't have to worry much as excess of Vitamin B12 is taken up by the liver and is stored. It is the only water soluble vitamin which is stored in the body.
Other vitamins above tissue saturation levels are excreted in urine.
Hence water soluble vitamin toxicity is very very rare.
