Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi doctor I had unprotected sex with my partner and he ejaculated inside my vigina I m suppose to go to my periods between 5th-9th of this month,we did sex on the 5th and use disprin only....I just took in two disprin pills.... Does this method prevent fertilisation to occur?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Disprin is not a contraceptive. It contains Aspirin which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and is used for the symptomatic treatment of headache, fever, migraine, and other conditions.
It does not interfere with the fertilization of the ovum or implantation of the zygote. Hence, it is not effective in preventing an unwanted pregnancy following an unprotected sex.
Since you had sex during your expected period, there is a less chance for pregnancy. However, if your period is delayed for 10 days, get the pregnancy test done and consult a gynecologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali

Can Disprin Be Used As A Contraceptive?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Disprin is not a contraceptive. It contains Aspirin which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and is used for the symptomatic treatment of headache, fever, migraine, and other conditions. It does not interfere with the fertilization of the ovum or implantation of the zygote. Hence, it is not effective in preventing an unwanted pregnancy following an unprotected sex. You need to take an emergency contraceptive pill containing Levonorgestrel to prevent an unwanted pregnancy and that too within 72 hours following an unprotected sex. Since you had sex during your expected period, there is a less chance for pregnancy. However, if your period is delayed for 10 days, get the pregnancy test done and consult a gynecologist.
