Can Diltiazem Cause Blurred Vision And Swollen Ankles?

I went into AF 2 months ago , and was put on 240 and 120 as well as digoxin . Since I experience swollen feet ( especially ankles ) , blurred vision , and my BP ic 150/85 from 125/75. Are these side effects of diltiazem , and if yes what can I ask my primary doctor to do ? P.S. before that incident of AF I was taking Losartan , and Propafenon .

Hello Dear. Selling of feet is one of the side effects of calcium channel blockers. Though Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocker, but the side effect of ankle edema is more common with Amlodipine and Nifedipine than Diltiazem. Ankle swelling can be an indication of heart pathology. Ask your doctor to do ECG, ECHO and see if all the parameters are proper and if additional drugs like lasix, beta blockers (eg- Atenolol) have to be added. Lasix helps to decrease swelling by sending more water in urine and beta blockers will help in effective pumping of heart.

Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you.
All the best
