Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have never used this site before... I am actually a prescriber- but would appreciate feedback about a particular medication combo. I am working with someone (woman in her thirties with no cardiac issues) who is on saphris 10mg per day (which has been extremely effective for her) and now also on Celexa 10mg per day. I wanted to increase the dose of Celexa to 20 mg per day- but then realized that there is a potential of QT prolongation with this combination. Would it be unadvisable to proceed?: Or would it be OK if the patient got an EKG within the first week of taking Celexa 20mg along with the Saphris and the QT interval is normal? I realize that this may not be the type of inquiry that is addressed in this forum... But, if possible, I would very much appreciate your thoughts on this.
hi thanks for using HCM. The chances of QT prolongation are much if the dose are above 40 mg of Celexa and same apply to Saphris. At the doses mentioned by you, there are little chance of QT prolongation. As there are other multiple option available with safer drug it is not wise to continue with increasing dose. thanks
