Can Cefaclor Be Taken To Treat A Bladder Infection?
I am currently on cefaclor and am finding no relief for my bladder infection. I leave for Europe tomorrow and can not get tested before I leave. I have Cefpodoxime on hand and also cephalexin and supra. I have all of these because I have had chronic infections and travel quite a bit so these were prescribed prophalactically. Would one of these be best to try? i already know that the question is whether my bacteria is resistant or responsive to a particular antibiotic, but I was wondering if there is higher probability to a antibiotic if cefaclor is not working. I am hesitant to pay for advice if I am not hearing from a urologist.
Hello. You didn't mention whether its gall bladder or urinary bladder but I will suppose it's urinary bladder. The drug of choice for urinary bladder infection is ciprofloxacin but if you are taking intravenous antibiotics then ceftriaoxone are also good to use. But cefaclor is also fairly good to cover the infection . But if there is high grade fever with chills which means there is severe infection then a combination of drugs like cefoparazone/sulbactum is very good drug to use. If meant gall bladder then ceftriaoxone is better if using intravenous injection and moxifloxacin if oral is an option. Hope that answer the question. Thanks
