Can CHF Cause Leg Bleeding With Clear Fluid Leakage?

I have an 85 yr old aunt with CHF. She scratched her leg Sunday, it bled a little then a clear fluid started leaking from the same site. Today is Tuesday will it be alright to wait till Thursday for a doctors appointment? And is this related to the CHF?

Hi, I understand your concern and try to help you. Any bleeding, the fluid transudation of your aunt's legs may be related to congestive heart failure.

When there is loss of contractile function of the heart loses some of its ability to pump blood forward and liquids become accumulated in various parts of the body, especially the lungs, liver and legs. This fluid accumulation in the legs is responsible for the local edema.

Swelling in the legs leave the fragile skin and any local trauma can cause wounds that bleed and eliminate a course of long-running fluid. If the CHF is the cause of leg edema, we should treat CHF to improve the case, so you need to look for the cardiologist of your aunt to define a more appropriate treatment.

Another very common problem that can cause this leg edema is chronic venous insufficiency is a problem in the veins of the legs and thighs that hinder the blood flow back of the legs and feet back to the heart. There are several treatments for this problem and monitoring the vascular surgeon is needed.

I suggest you contact your cardiologist for further information and determine which therapies are needed to solve the problem.
