Can Budecort Be Given For Cough In Children?

My son is 5 yes old. He gets cough very frequently. We have observed that he gets effected when he plays in sand, when exposed to dust or when the weather changes. His doctor suggested to keep him on budecort inhaler continuously to prevent getting cough. But I recently came back know that it is a steroid. Please let me know the side effects of it and how to overcome the side effects.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is an inhaled steroid , used in persons with asthma. Based on your description of your son's persistent cough, it is possible that he is an asthmatic.

Inhaled steroids are commonly used in asthma, they are one of the most widely used medications. Little of it would be absorbed in his system, most would stay in the lungs to help control his asthma.

Since most would stay in the lungs, there are little to no systemic effects.
It is different from someone who is taking steroid tablets.

There is a big risk associated with asthma that is not controlled. It can affect the quality of your son's life.
Frequent attacks would affect him at home or school and may lead to hospital visits.

If you are not sure, you should consider speaking to his doctor.

I hope this helps
