Can Betaine Be Taken When Diagnosed With CKD?

I have CKD Stage 3 and my homocysteine level is above normal. I am currently taking B1, B6, B12, and Deplin. Will taking Betaine, compromise my kidneys? How much should I take? Please note that currently my cholesterol (130) and my triglylycerides (118) are fine. Thank you!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

You can safely take Betaine, it is just a supplement and it does not worsen your kidney status.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
