My daughter is 16. We received a nebulizer with albuterol treatments today. She is an asthmatic and has been having attacks regularly for 3 days now. The albuterol puffs quit working. She took a treatment about an hour ago but it hasn t helped. Can she do another so soon. Also she is having allergic reactions causing her sinuses to drain then get stuffy. Can she take Benadryl also?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hello,
He can take Benedryl. It will help to bring down the allergic cascade. If albuterol is not helping, then she may need corticosteroid inhalation or injection. Repeat albuterol again after two hours. If no improvement, then consults the ER for corticosteroids like hydrocortisone injection or inhalation of corticosteroid.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nishad BN
