Can Bactrim And Macrobid Be Taken Together?

Can I take Bactrim and macrobid together? I have a resistant UTI. I have been on bactrim for almost 2 months. After having a stricture and kidney stone treated and the stent removed, my urologist cut my dosage of bactrim to 400mg per day instead of the 800 that I was on. The infection came back in 3 days. I couldn t get to the urologist today so I went to my GP. He changed the antibiotic to macrobid. I am afraid to stop the bactrim because I get really sick when this infection comes back with nausea, headache, malaise, but no fever. I am wondering if I can try the macrobid on top of the bactrim.

Hello,

No need to take both drugs at a time. Both drugs are effective in urinary tract infection but not together. Take Macrobid twice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved, please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
