Can Azithromycin And Citalopram Be Taken Together?

I have been taking citalopram for some time. This week my doctor prescribed Azithromycin for a bad cough. Nothing was said at the time about interaction. What do you suggest I do? Quit the citalopram foot the few days of the Azithromycin Rx or quit the Azithromycin .

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You can take both citalopram and azithromycin together, they doesn’t interact with each other or affect the efficacy of one another. No need to stop either of them.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
