Can Amoxicillin Cause Allergic Reaction Through Intercourse?

I’m allergic to amoxicillin and my husband is currently taking it to clear up an infection. We have unprotected sex and I’m wondering if I can have an allergic reaction to his sperm? He’s currently taking amoxicillin three times a day for the next ten days. He began taking this prescription yesterday.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Amoxicillin diffuses readily into most body tissues and fluids, with the exception of brain and spinal fluid, but the quantity in ejaculation is small and also vaginal route has poor absorption. Most probably you are not going to have an allergic reaction.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
 Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
