Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Amytriptiline is an antidepressant as well and this is not first choice for sleeping disorders and there are better options such as benzodiazepines. Amitrpitiline may potentiate the effect of effexor and cause some side effects such as confusion or loss of concentration so you should not drive while on it. Also, it is usually taken during the day as long term therapy for depression. I would not use it as sleeping medication if you ask me.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
