Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Have had 4 gout attacks in 2 months. I Have had problems with several new Meds the last 2 years, and had a MI 7/31/2016 (takotsubo cardiomyopathy). I take plavix. Can I safely take allopurinol? I did ok with colchicine. But I do have a sensitive stomach. Can t take anti- inflammatories.
Allopurinol can be safely used with plavix. Both drugs do not elicit any significant interactions when used together.
However, plavix and anti-inflammatories interact to yield some significant effects. Anti-inflammatories would increase the risk of bleeding caused by clopidogrel. Therefore, i would not advise you to take this drug combination, except if closely monitored and prescribed by your physician.
I hope i have answered my question.
Warm regards.
