Can Acyclovir Cause Back Pain?

My husband just finished a week-long dose of acyclovir (400mg) for Bell s Palsy. For the last couple days, he s complained of back pain between his shoulders and a sort of dull headache. He s really uncomfortable. Could it be the meds? He took some ibuprofen (600mg) prescribed also but that doesn t seem to help much.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Back pain is not a reported side effect of acyclovir. He should apply best, take NSAIDs like Acetaminophen, apply some analgesic spray and see the doctor if the pain continues.

Hope my answer was helpful. If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Regards,
