CT Scan Done . What Does Findings Mean? Suggested Seeing Oncologist.

can you tell me what this means;
there is a well circumscribed sclerotic density along posterior distal right femur. Thereis suggestion of mild periosteal reaction posteriority. Thi is an indeterminate lesion and a follow up CT should be obtaine. I will say that I have been instructed to go see an oncologist and this is a little scare. I was also told there was a tumor on my knee.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi,thanks for writing to HCM. Dont panic and be brave. Let me put forward some basic points about bone tumours. Generally, well circumsribed tumours (by your description) are always slow growing tumours which are usually benign in nature (this is good news for you) and carry good prognosis. These can be surgically removed enmass without leaving any traces of it or a biopsy has to be done and material sent for histopathological examination to define its nature and treatment has to be made accordingly.
Wishing you a quick recovery. Regards
