CT Coronary Analysis Done. What Does Findings Suggest?
Good Day Doctors,
I have done a CT Corinary and following is the analysis....
Cardiac Morphology:
Both atria and ventricles are normal. The mitral valve leaflets are normal. The pericardium is normal and there is no
pericardial effusion. The aortic valve is tricuspid. The visualized thoracic aorta is normal in course and caliber.
Extracardiac findings:
The visualised pulmonary arteries appear normal in caliber. The visualised lung parenchyma is unremarkable. The
included portion of the upper abdomen appears normal.
Impression:
· Eccentric mixed plaque at origin of LAD causing no significant stenosis.
· Mild ectasia of the proximal LAD.
· Right Dominant Circulation.
Is there any reason to worry ?

Hi Mr. Fernandes, Welcome to HCM.
Based on the information you have given, your heart condition looks otherwise uneventful. However, the presence of the plaque near the origin of your LAD poses significant risk for the future development of myocardial ischemia (heart attack).
At this time, since your condition is asymptomatic I recommend lifestyle modification such as diet control and exercise, low dose aspirin (to avoid any clot formation at the origin of LAD causing stenosis), and cholesterol lowering medication such as statins. In this regard I strongly advise you to consult a cardiologist to manage your condition.
Building plaque in coronary arteries is primarily due to dyslipidemia (increase in blood lipid levels). Other reasons being smoking, family history of high lipids, diabetes etc.
