hi...
thanks for the query...
doxycycline is given in periodontitis cases... but proper course is required... otherwise its of no use...
also, drugs alone wont help... the cause causing periodontitis has to be removed...
proper scaling and root planing is necessary alongwith antibiotics...
clinical and complete radiographic analysis are also required... you should go for regenerative or resective procedures wherever required...
most importantly, maintenance of good oral hygiene is must... brush twicw daily after meals... and give regular visits to your dentist (once in 6 months)...
hope it will help you...
take care...

Dentist Dr. Bindiya Bhaskar's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Doxycycline-100 mg is usually prescribed in cases of periodontitis or gingivitis.

Please do get medical support prior to administration of such drugs.

Cause of periodontitis or gingivitis has to be evaluated and treated accordingly.

Get a thorough scaling as well as root planning done.

Maintain oral care.

Use chlorhexidine mouthrinses to prevent plaque accumulation.

Take care.

Hi,

Thanks for aksing the query,

Doxycycline is the drug given in periodontistis, i would advise you not to take any drug by your own.
I would advise you to visit to the Dentist get the checkup done, take an OPG radiograph.
Go for complete mouth scaling, polishing and curettage.
Take lukewarm saline rinses and antiseptic mouthwash rinses.
Take the drugs under the prescription of your Dentist.
Maintain a good oral hygiene.

Hope this helps out,

Regards....

Hi Imran, Doxycycline along with Metrogyl is the drug of choice in Periodontitis. But please consult your dentist before using the medication and make sure that you are using the drug for Periodontitis and not just Gingivitis or a Peri apical infection. Take care!
