Bruised My Toe After Stepping On Nails. It Feels Numb. What Is The Cure?

Hi I stepped on a board with 3 nails on it. They weren't rusty and I've recently had a technics shot(don't know if that's right) haha I couldn't walk on it for a few days which I knew was normal but now one of the wounds near my toe is making my toe feel funny and numb. Especially when they are cold it's just the on. Starting yesterday a bruise started forming on top of the toe and around another wound at the bottom of the foot as well as 2 bruises on the top no where near the injury. Should I go get this checked?

Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

You have apparently developed secondary bacterial infection, due to intrusion of bacteria into the deeper tissues, through the breached skin. The infection has now spread into the surrounding tissues, along with swelling within the infected area. Perhaps, cellulitis has already developed.

A course of suitable antibiotics + anti-inflammatory drugs will heal the infection.

The numbness is either due to associated nerve injury or, nerve compression due to increased pressure in the infected area.

Consult your doctor and apprise him of my opinion. I am certain that he will agree with me, order required tests, and- based on the reports- will prescribe suitable/modified treatment as advised.
