Blood Test Shows Elevated Liver Enzymes. Taking Effexor For Anxiety And Tylenol For Torn Suprapanidus. Due To Medicine?

Hi Dr. I was told by my doctor following a blood test that i have slightly elevated liver enzymes. I am vey very scared about this. I take effexor for anxiety. Had a car accident in 2009 and have been taking tylenol for quite a while for a torn suprapanidus. Can any of these 2 medications be causing this problem with my Liver ?

Hello,
Although slight elevations of liver enzymes are very commonly found in routine blood testings and many a time no particular reason can be found for such a finding. However the most commonly known reason for liver enzymes elevation is increased consumption of alcohol and various types of drugs like anti cholesterol, pain killers, antidepressants etc.
Prolonged use of TYLENOL and EFFEXOR are known to cause elevations of liver enzymes.
Thanks
