Bloating, Acidity. Ate Too Much Of Wheat, Rye Due To Upset Stomach. Gas-ex Tablets Not Helping

I am experiencing bloating and gas every day during the day for the past couple of weeks now. I think that it could be from eating too much wheat and rye. The problem is that I had an upset stomach for a week or so, so the only things I could eat was bred, oatmeal and rye crackers. I was afraid to eat salads and vegetables. Gas-ex does not help much. Please advice.
Thank you.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
If I were your treating doctor for this sharp pain in stomach , I would come up with these possibilities , these includes .
1 The first possibility is of peptic ulcer disease or Hiatus hernia . Diagnosis can be confirmed by upper G I endoscopy . Try raising the head of your bed 4 inches above with blocks. It might also help to avoid eating or drinking for 2 hours before you lie down.
To help control stomach acid one should not drink alcohol or drinks with caffeine in them or eat chocolates or spicy food or greasy foods or avoid overeating, or bread .Also take some antacid but if symptoms are severe then you may need proton pump inhibitors.
2 As you mentioned that there is also excessive gas formation so take some blend diet , you may need some enzymatic preparation for indigestion.
3 Take rest after each principal meal at least for two hours .
So in my opinion consult a physician and get his opinion. Good luck. Dr. HET
