how old are you? blood in the stool is "usually" hemorrhoids, however there is no way to completely rule out other causes that can be potentially life threatening such as colon cancer
or polyps, or other conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease
(Crohn's or Ulcerative colitis
). The older you are the more likely you are to have colon polyps, that is why people over 50 years old should get a screening colonoscopy
. If you have never had a colonoscopy you should definitely get one. If you had one recently then I still recommend you getting checked by a GI just to be on the safe side.
