Bleeding Due To Cut In Soft Palate, Painful. What Should I Do?

Sunday night, while I was asleep, I somehow cut what I think is my soft palate. It was bleeding but eventually stopped, but it still hurts there. I can't eat anything because if I try to, that area starts to burn. That part of my mouth feels rougher than the other areas, and I think the night it got cut, I could feel the membrane or something torn and felt it hanging there. It really hurts, and I can drink some things without as much pain, but I'd rather be able to eat again instead of just drinking protein shakes. What should I do?

Hello there,
Well the cause of the injury is not clear but it will take time to heal. All you can do till then is application of oral local anesthetic gels on the affected area 10 to 15 mins before meals. Avoid hot and spicy food for a week. Wishing you quick recovery. Take care.

Whatever, now you should not take any spicy, hot hard food...take soft cold diet..

You can apply mocopain over that region 3-4 times/day....

Consult with Dentist or ENT specialist....

Get proper check-up done....

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

It is confusing how you got a cut on the soft palate while sleeping.
I would suggest you to visit to an ENT specialist and get the chekup done.
Take lukewarm saline and antispetic mouthwash rinses.
Take a course of multivitamin tablets o.d for 15 days.
Take a course of antibiotics consulting your Doctor.
Avoid eating of hot and spicy food stuffs.
Dont worry the condition will heal in some days.

Hope this helps out,

Regards..

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. Saurabh Gupta's  Response
Hi,

Avoid solid food for the following two days. Eat a diet of nutritious soft foods such as dairy products, puddings, custards, shakes, yogurt, ice cream, tender meats and eggs, creamy nut butters, soft ripe or canned fruits, bananas, avocados, yams and cooked mashed carrots and potatoes. Acid fruits, tomatoes and spicy foods might burn and are best avoided, as are foods that stretch the mouth wide, like large apples or sandwiches.
After meals, rinse the mouth with a saline solution of one teaspoon salt to one cup of warm water.
Healing should take place within four or five days.
Regards.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
There is an injury of uvula , so hard food will develop pain and this is natural.
Only option is to have soft food ( drink) , beside take antibiotics + anti inflammatory + serratiopeptidase , after the consultation of doctor.
You will get relief within 3-4 days.
Good luck.
