Big red lump inside the cheek. Formed instantly. Matter of concern?

Hi, I was eating supper and thought I had a piece of food stuck to the inside of my cheek, but it s actually a big red pump about the size of a pea. I didn t bite the inside of my cheek, but it kinda looks like a big blood blister the side of a pea. It formed almost instatly. Do you think it s anything I should be concerned about?

Dear friend.

Thanks for sharing your concern.

The big bump developed inside your cheek could be the result of food impingement on gum tissue.it could also be due to traumatic injury to the surrounding tissue.

you can gently brush and rinse with antiseptic mouth wash. This will relieve any food particles struck up there.

If you have chronic cheek biting habit then please try and avoid.stress does this.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Take care.

hello there,

Redness of the cheek mucosa and lump like formation can be seen due to inflammation of the cheek mucosa by physical trauma or chemical trauma caused due to intake of too hot food stuffs or allergry to certain products.

The cheek mucosa may have undergone ulceration and therefore appears like a blood blister.

i would suggest you to go for symptomatic treatment at home like gargling with lukewarm saline water or antiseptic mouthwash like chlorhexidine or betadine which gives soothing effect.

apply oral antiseptics like dentogel topically over the affected area.

Start with multivitamin supplements for 5 to 7 days.

i hope this helps,

take care.

Dear Anna,

Thanks for your querry in hcm forum. Well I think its a traumatic lesion. There must have been a sudden compression which we usually say as mucoceles. Mucoceles occur more often in the lower lip are less often in the cheek. But these are usually associated with no or dull pain. There color may be from purple to red based on which vessel is invoved and whether deep or superficial. I would advice you to visit dentist once for accurate diagnosis.

Many kind regards

Hi,
Thanks for using HCM forum,
The red pump of about pea size on innner side of cheek seems to be result of cheek biting.
If it is coming between your teeth on that side then consult your dentist so that it can round off the edges of teeth.
Take multivitamins for healing. Apply Trigel as it will reduce the inflammation.
Maintain oral hygiene and do warm saline rinses after every meal.
Take care
