Bacterial Infection Of Belly Button. Metronidazole Tablets, Gel Prescribed. Laparoscopic Surgery Done. Suggestions?
I have had bacterial infection of the belly button now at least 10 times since sept 12 when I had laproscopic surgery (gallbladder) and my tummy button is now pulling to the side is this connected to surgery also when I cough or laugh it goes hard there
Just been prescribed metronidazole 400mg x 3 for 7 days and metronidazole gel x2 per day after swab results come back

Recurrent belly button infections are very common as this place is moist and humid which becomes very conducive for various types of bacterial and fungal infections.Treatment involves regular cleaning of area and keeping the area dry.
Antibiotics are given after getting the swab culture done.
You must complete the course of metrogyl as advised with local application of metronidazole ointment.
Your tummy button has pushed to a side because of scar tissue formed after the gall bladder surgery.It is not be worried and is a normal thing.
