Backpain, Chest Discomfort After Sleeping In The Wrong Position. Suggestions?
I think I slept wrong last night, I slept on my side which I normally don t do. I think it may have pulled a trap muscle in my back, at least that is where the pain is. I think it may also be causing some slight chest discomfort. This is startled me since the pain is still continuing. I thought it may signify a heart problem. (Now a few months back I had an EKG that read fine. I got that because I was having chest pain , but the hospital said it was due to anxiety and muscle tightness)
This seems to a muscles pull by abnormal position while sleep.
In body in a particular position remains for a long time then there will be a fatigue of muscles can occurred and pain, stiffness and even swelling may occur due edema.
So you should not bother to heavy and take some muscle relaxant, pain killer and anti-inflammatory medications as per prescription of your GP. Pain will subside gradually, as will see improvement day by day.
There is nothing harm to do ECG again to rule out any cardiac problem, and it must be done in any atypical chest pain. So please go for a ECG then further management.
Regards,
Dr. Naresh Jain.
