Arm Injury, Painful Elbow, Tingling In Fingers. Does It Involve Ulnar Nerve?

My son fell with his arm straight from a piece of farm machinery. Complained that it hurt around his elbow and also hurt in the days following when he extended his elbow with force (throwing a baseball). He says that it feels fine now, but I had a player on the softball team I coach have a similar injury tonight. Fell straight-armed and complained of pain in elbow, and at wrist, along with 'tingling' in fingers and numb pinky finger. Just curious, assuming it involves her ulnar nerve, does this kind of thing 'go away'....

Hello dear,

The symptoms like tingling in the fingers & numb pinky finger can be attributed to involvement of ulnar nerve.
The symptoms occur due to either direct injury or compression of the nerve secondary to swelling due to injury.

Symptomatic relief from pain & swelling can be obtained by analgesics, ice compression & proper rest.
However, the extent of nerve involvement can be estimated by clinical examination & nerve conduction studies.

Management will involve administration of Vit B6, B12, Folic acid which help in repairing the damage to neurons.

Wishing a good health.
Take care.
