Are Vomiting And Discomfort Post Food Intake Suggestive Of Allergic Reaction?

My 14-month old toddler did not behave normal after eating meal containing butternut squash, egg, pear and spinach. Last night she choked after eating the same meal and threw up the entire dinner. After throwing everything out, she felt better and was her normal self again. We were not sure whether it s food or the accidental choking, so we served the leftover for lunch today. 20 minutes after lunch, she acted very cranky and tired, lots of hiccup, swallowing, yawning and a bit coughing. After resting for an hour, she is now back to normal. Are these allergic reactions or potential food contamination? Do we need to see a doctor soon?

Hi,
Welcome To HCM & Thanks For Asking Your Query Here

from your description it is highly likely that your 14 month old is having gastric intolerance for some kind of food you are offering to her specially egg and it is common for a 14 month old baby as her intestines are still developing and may not digest and absorb heavy and large food molecules at least till the age of 2 years

you should try various food combination to see which kind of food she is not able to tolerate , sometimes babies are intolerant to milk lactose and some baby even have problem with wheat gluten

but if you find it difficult and problem persist with all kind of food than finally i would strongly suggest you to see Your pediatric to further evaluate the condition

I hope it help
Thanks again
