Are Tiny Dark Brown Specks In Urine An Indication Of Calculi?
I am about 4 weeks pregnant. I am experiencing one or two tiny dark brown specks (not like the red or brown blood associated with my period) in my urine. What is this? Is this possibly kidney stone related? It does not look like blood. It looks like tiny black pepper-like dots, 1 mm maybe not even that big. Only one or two seem to appear per urination. I never had this before. I have been taking prenatal vitamins for about a month. Also every day or every other day I take citracal (about 800 mg) and a fish oil supplement. Could it merely be dehydration? Would drinking more water, and how much, be helpful?
Hi, Thanks for asking. Based on your query, my opinion is as follows. 1. Yes, it appears to be possible calculi. 2. You can go for urine examination for confirmation, whether it is calculi or possibly red cell cast. 3. Dehydration increases the risk of calculi. However, it is not seen immediately and is seen over months. Take plenty of water. 6-7 liters per day should be adequate. Avoiding taking more water after 6 pm, as it could disturb sleep. 4. Get the urine examination done, as during pregnancy, infection risk and antibiotic assessment is necessary as early as possible. Hope it helps. Any further queries, happy to help again.
