Are There Ways To Grow In Height During Growing Years?

Hi, I am a 17 year old boy who has had trouble growing taller than 5'5" since 7th grade. I started growing facial hair around 7th-8th grade (12-13 years old). My father is about two inches taller than me and my brother is 6'1''. I was wondering if I will still have growth spurts or if I will remain 5'5" and if there was anything I can still do to help me grow taller.

Hello dear,

First of all, please do not get influenced by any advertisement or health product which claim to boost your growth hormone & increase height...it may be harmful.

Height of an individual is determined by Genetics, Environmental & Nutritional factors and Hormonal factors (most important the Growth Hormone secreted by pituitary gland in brain)
An individual stops growing in height after the fusion of the Epiphyses (growth plates) of the long bones, which occurs by the age of 17-21 yrs in males.

So...as you are 17 years old now and your X ray shows the growth plates have not closed completely, there is good chance of further increase in height.

Make sure that you are taking a healthy & balanced diet, exercise regularly & avoid stress.
Protein rich diet like soya, groundnut, pulses, etc should be incorporated in your diet plan.

Wishing you Good Health.
Take care
