Are There Any Side Effects To Baby From Contraceptive Pills?

Hi doc, My periods date will happen every month of 25th or near by days(May 25th periods happened). I have taken unwanted 72 tab on June 6th after my sex. Again I had unwanted 72 tab near to my period date (june 25th), so my periods not happened till yesterday(06.07.15). Today I consult doctor(07.07.15) , undergone pregnancy blood hcg test and its positive. Kindly clarify, is there any problem having 2 tabs in one month or any side effects or any problem will occur for baby inside.

Hi & Welcome to HCM.
I appreciate your concern for the contraceptive pills safety when taken accidentally during pregnancy.

There are no documented harmful effects of contraceptive pills on the growing fetus.

Since you continued taking your birth control pill because you didn't realize you were pregnant, you need not have to worry.
There's absolutely no or very little evidence that exposure to birth control pills causes birth defects.
Once you learn that you're pregnant, stop taking the birth control pill.

Consult your obstetrician, have a regular ante natal checkup including the abdominal ultrasound to detect any early changes if at all, continue taking iron and folic acid tablets as prescribed.

Hope to have answered your query.

Best regards.
