Are There Any Side Effects In Using Skin Lite Cream?

hello Dr. this is Anjali from Mumbai.. im using skin lite cream since last one year.. i can observe that my skin has become light than earlier .. but the problem is as i stop using it, i come back to my original color.. my question is how shall i maintain with the lite tone and is there any side effects on continue using skin lite.. please guide me

Hello and welcome to healthcremagic.

Skinlite cream is a triple drug combination of a potent steroid(mometasone) +hydroquinone+tretinoin. Such a combination is usually prescribed by a dermatologist for Melasma. The potent steroid that it contains cannot be used on face for long. Using it would obviously lead to side effects related to steroid abuse like Acne, Photosensitivity, Skin thinning (Atrophy) and telangiectasis and Facial hair growth(hirsutism), which is especially troublesome in females.

Therefore it should be used for not more than 2-3 months and that too only under the supervision of a dermatologist since early signs of steroid abuse may be missed by others
