Are The Pain And Sunken Cheek Due To Parotid Gland Issue?

Long story here. I had to get a crown so my dentist put a temporary on. After he did that, I was in tremendous pain and couldn't even chew on the one side. After consulting with him, he told me that I needed a root canal. Got the root canal. Now, the permanent crown is in place. Still a tiny bit of pain, but nothing significant. So here's the kicker....my left check has sunken in. The dentist told me to take antibiotics and the endodontist gave me penicillin. Nothing is helping. Is this something to do wh my parotid gland? Thank you so very much for your help!

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
First of all sunken cheek is not a symptom of any parotid gland problem. Most parotid gland problem will have swelling and severe untolerable pain.
You might be having some buccal swelling or pain in spaces around the tooth, which is commonly are result of tooth infection.
Nothing to worry consult an Oral Physician and he will do an x ray to confirm any infection arising from tooth.

Hope your query is solved

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms root canal treatment does not lead to sunken cheeks and the cause may be something else..
Mostly in case of any dental issue sunken cheek is seen after multiple dental extractions and progressing in age leading to inward curving of cheek..

You may have a false feeling of having a sunken cheek if there is some swelling on the opposite cheek or on the malar prominence of the face on the same side leading to dipped or sunken appearance of the cheek..

If there would be any disorder associated with the Parotid gland then also there are chances of having swelling and not sunken appearance..

Any incidence of sunken cheek after root canal treatment is hardly known and you should consult a cosmetic surgeon to get evaluated for the cause of sunken cheek and get treated accordingly..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
