Hello,
The medications you have been prescribed,
Amoxicillin, Cheston Cough and Cold and Dolo-650mg are generally safe to use in combination. The antibiotic along with the antihistamine/nasal decongestant are certainly safe together. The pain medication Dolo is a
narcotic and should be used with caution due to its risk of dependency, however this medication may also worsen
nausea as most opiate medications can so please be cautious with this.
Regarding your diet, I would recommend avoiding spicy, acidic type food and drinks as the antibiotic itself can also cause some degree of
stomach discomfort. I would recommend a bland diet, what is also referred to as a
BRAT diet (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast) which is generally much easier on the stomach. Of course please drink plenty of fluids with will help speed your recovery as well as assist in thinning the mucous to allow it to be coughed up easier.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. David Girardi, Internal Medicine Specialist
