Are Swollen Tonsils, Painful Jaws And Headache Due To Eruption Of Wisdom Tooth?

My tonsils are swollen, my jaw hurts, and I have a splitting headache. I went to my doctors yeasterday and they tested me for strep and it was negative. Being 18 and knowing every one in my family has had there wisdom teeth removed, is there anyway the swelling and pain in my tonsils could be caused by my wisdom teeth coming in?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain in case of you are tested negative for throat infection then there is a possibility that the symptoms of pain in tonsils, jaw and headache is due to wisdom tooth that is erupting and if the gum flap over the wisdom tooth is inflamed and swollen, it can lead to the following symptoms..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a clinical examination and an IOPAR ( x ray) of the wisdom tooth can help in diagnosis..
In case if it is die to wisdom tooth and tooth is erupting in proper direction and alignment, removal of gum flap can help..
In case if the tooth is impacted extraction of the tooth can help..
As of now you can take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen and do warm saline gargles..
Take a soft diet..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
