Are Swelling In The Legs, Shortness Of Breath And Hallucinations Side Effects Of Medrol?

I was put on a Medrol dose pack for back pain and developed increased swelling in my legs, increased laryngospasm, inability to sleep, increased shortness of breath and some visual hallucinations. This was after an IV dose given in the ER and only 2 oral doses. I am 61 and have high blood pressure, stage 2 COPD and Type 2 diabetes. Is this considered and allergy?

Hello,

Medrol is corticosteroid which is used to treat allergic reactions, so it definitely not causes allergy. The symptoms you had experienced are mostly because of COPD which causes dyspnea and decreased oxygenation of blood. So my advice is to go to ER and get admit yourself for proper management till the symptoms resolves.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
